Breakfast with the American Archive of Public Broadcasting

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7:45 a.m.

SPEAKER: Karen Cariani, Director of WGBH Media Library and Archives

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Digitizing and preserving station and producer content has never been more critical as legacy media deteriorates and our public TV history is in danger of being lost forever. Many stations have joined the effort to digitize and preserve their historic work and make it accessible to the public through the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, a collaboration between the Library of Congress and GBH, Boston. The most recent initiative will fund digitization of 150,000 tapes from across the nation with a focus on under-represented and marginalized stories, communities, and perspectives. The session will give a general overview of the AAPB and how producers and stations can participate.
